SLV and Class BBQ

Two days ago (Tuesday) was a full day of activities. Firstly, I took the MRT all the way to Marsiling from Kallang. As I was late, Ms Cai, my CT suggested me to take a taxi from the MRT station to Metta Home (A home for the intellectually disabled). The taxi uncle wasnt too sure about where was the place but luckily I used the bus that we would be taking to the zoo as an indication. Well, I got laughed at for running like a clown from the taxi to the bus. It doesnt really matter since I managed to catch up on time if not the bus would had left without me.

A
t the zoo, every two classmates are to partner someone (from Metta Home). I was with Patrick, the guitar guy. We were trying to find our partner while the people from Metta Home were sitting on benches. In the end, we exchanged partner with my classmates because theres someone who came to hold my hand and I cant bear to let go. She looks like she is in her 50s from her wrinkles on her face. She is quite dark and a pretty quiet person. I had a little difficulty communicating with her as I do not know what language she speaks.

T
he people from Metta Home are grown ups (18-60 probably) but their mind arent that developed. They speak and cheer just like any children you can probably find in the playground. I felt a little sad for them as it is really a pity that people are borned with deficits like this. The person-in-charge of the Metta Home also mentioned that we are not allowed to take photos with them as it is to protect their privacy as requested from their parents. I really cant imagine how old are their parents. Out of the 13 people from Metta Home who went out with us, I guess there is already 6-7 people whose age is above 50. Their parents could be in their 70s already, and they still need to worry for their children. How fortunate are we? Sometimes we do not get what we want but we are still much more fortunate than these people out there.

lright, back to my partner. We were holding hands as if we are a couple (or maybe a father and a daughter), swinging a little here and there at times. I was quite sad in the beginning when she doesnt reply to me. But as we walked around the zoo, she gradually started to respond more, starting with small actions such as nodding her head. Actually, she can be my grandmother already. Seeing her in this state makes me feel very worried for my mother in the future. I wonder how long can she live...and about her health. We explored the zoo for around two hours and were really tired. One hilarious thing that happened was that an Orang Utan on a tree wanted a packet of tidbits that one of my classmates, Jason was holding on to. It raised out its hand and give the "come give me that thing" look. It was staring at Jason for around one minute and Jason got a little bit nervous as he was worried that the Orang Utan might come after him when he walk away.

T
he SLV was very successful and Im sure that there are many unsung heroes(dont know if I used this correctly) who helped out in the planning and preparation of the SLV, directly or indirectly. Thanks to Jianwei, the event coordinator, and the classmates who helped to wash the cars for the fund raising event, the people who stayed up really late to plan for the games which we didnt play in the end. I felt a little bit guilty for not helping out much. I really wanted to help to wash the cars that afternoon on the last day of the term but there is a compulsory practice for CO members going for the Hong Kong trip.

fter the SLV, we took the bus back to VJC. I met Elroy in the canteen and he was studying with his friends. Some of my classmates went to Parkway Parade to buy the BBQ stuffs and some stayed in school for a while and then walked to BBQ Pit 48 together. At East Coast Park, some of the guys, including me, played soccer. Nothing special, just some passing with our slippers or sandals. After a while, Mr Jeffrey Ng, our Chemistry tutor came to join us! Miss Felicia Tan, our Econs tutor arrived shortly after. We made cards and little notes for the both of them as they are going to leave us and go for further studies. Weizhen did a great job printing out the nice photos and designing the book for them. Miss Cai, our CT also joined us in the BBQ.

We had fun eating, drinking (some soft drinks & alcohol oops) and playing games together as a class. It was really a long time since we had this kind of gathering. I really hope we can have more of such outings when we have the time. Met Shaun, our PAE classmate too. I guess he was a little bit bored as he was the only PAE classmate who turned up. Vidhu went USA for holidays while Weehoe was sick. I managed to spoke to him and was suprised that he joined the guitar ensemble in ACJC.

Strong wind at ECP at around 10:30PM! Everything was getting blown away and we thought theres gonna be a tsunami coming. Here is a picture that we took when the wind is super strong (:

We packed everything up and started walking to the bus stop. It started to rain after we left the BBQ pit shortly. It was kinda funny to see the guys running even faster than the girls! Well, I shared my small umbrella with Shaun and we definitely got pretty much drenched by the time we reached the bus stop. Farewell to him when my bus arrived, not sure when we will meet again. Well, I am the kind of person who gets easily affected by emotions. He said "take care" before I went on the bus. These little things actually affects me and I will take them to heart.

I brought home the leftovers, which is like 20+ marinated chicken wings and stingrays. I stayed up late to watch EURO 2008 (again) on the internet. Exciting match between Spain and Russia, Spain was really impressive and I love their passes.

Yesterday, I got reprimanded by my mother for frying the chicken wings. I was made to clean the floor and some other stuffs. I did a good job I guess, she wasnt angry with me anymore and bought me some milk to drink.

Im watching Portugal vs. Czech Republic now! Its 2-1 now with Portugal leading with one goal! Im going off now. Bye!
